As we drove over the bridge, I yelled “That’s a bar!” And that was our introduction to Roht Marine while house hunting on the South Shore. We criss-crossed from Hingham to Duxbury and back to Scituate, seeing too many houses in one day on an empty stomach. Roht Marine is a marina on the North River offering boat slips, a clam shack, and a bar. It’s part dive bar, part boat shack, part chaos.

It feels like a lawless, wild place. Park wherever you want or wherever you can! Eat fried shrimp and clams! Pull up on the deck and have an overpriced drink, but no one cares because the vibe is right. It’s always somewhere I want to be with a spicy shrimp pizza and a Pool Water from Vitamin Sea Brewing. Oh, we also dock, store, and service our boat there.
Magically, Roht turns into a nightclub on random nights in the summer with bands, lights, and mosquito repellant. Gird your loins and jump in.

Practical Roht Marine Facts:
- Boat slips sometimes become available in January/February for the upcoming season. Follow Roht on Facebook to get the drop. In comparison, other local marinas can have a 5+ year waiting list.
- The North River is tidal, and can have massive shifts. Follow markers to stay in navigable waters. Buoys on the left!
- Roht is a destination and gets crowded. Plan ahead and think through parking etc.
- Fried shrimp are amazing from Eric’s Clam Shack, as well as Spicy Shrimp Pizza. Eric’s is open May through September/early October.
- Roht Marine bar is open year round, if there’s smoke coming out of the chimney in the winter, they’re open!
